Poet

The Falling Man 9/11

You flew majestic off the top

Arms spread wide

Like the wings of a dove of peace

A towering presence

Safe, silent, skilful

Graceful, your faith so strong

That you knew that God

Would catch you

Damned, you were not

Devout, your father demanded

From God, his miracle now

To find your body

Lain in the ashes of 3000 souls

Souls intermingled

All entwined

All with God

As he caught you all

A public death

But a dignified one

Our witness did not encroach

Upon your greatness

I cannot forget you

Two eternal beams of light

Shine sky high in place

Touching the tips of the universe

You fly high

Soul of a phoenix

Rising

For another life
