Your son, David Plummer
Tickled my heart
But he has the biggest heart
I have ever known.
He was your wanderlust kid
As described at his funeral
And he embraced the world
Happy to call anyone a friend.
Dorothy, he touched so many hearts
I watched you brighten as you looked at each floral tribute
And plucked a rose to smell it deeply with eyes closed
As if it brought you close to your precious son.
When I finally spoke to you after
That smile and that twinkle of the eye
Yes, only you could be Dave’s mum,
I am so sorry he was taken so early.
Now, as Joe Brown sings again
I’ll see Dave in my dreams
Now, less than two years since
You have now passed too.
Give my love to Dave, Dorothy
You could not be parted from your wanderlust kid for long.
