Natasha Haidar
Poet
You Take Away
Dull ravaged eyes, is it too much of me
To ask that you gaze upon this mortal throng
Not to leave me even though I know that you
Are weary of the rising sun and resist the breath of light
Stay awhile and muse upon the memory of brothers and sisters
All earth devoured but when eyes were open
Did revel before the eye of Heaven
All the same, I plead
As the earth is merry
Is gaping, is waiting
But for you can wait all the more longer.
